Tristan Hornstra’s Booting

Time to put on your shoes, Tristan’s Booting is afoot. It’s to be held down at Berrima Scout Camp on Saturday at 5pm. There will be a BBQ beforehand, and if you’d like to stay overnight, you’ll need $10. More info and details on the facebook event.

WHS/Child Safe

Before BRC on Saturday, the training team will be running these two modules for anyone who has yet to complete them. For those that are unaware, it is compulsory for all Rovers, so if you’re asking yourself ‘is this something that I need to do’, and you don’t know the answer, then the answer is yes. It’s at State Office (102 Bennalong Parkway, Olympic Park) from 11:15am.

Any questions, or issues, email , and bare in mind if you’ve yet to do these modules, your options are running low.

BRC

The november BRC is the one you don’t want to miss. Being the last one of the year, everyone has something to say, and everyone has a chance to speak. Adding to that is this BRC is the one where we vote for positions for next year. Consider yourself chair? Well nows the time to see if everyone else does. Its a fairly engaging meeting, so why not see what all the fun’s about.

NYC

Do you like scouts? Do you like talking? Well do I have something for you. The National Youth Council involves both of those things, and more… Why don’t you put in an application, and see how you go. You could be on your way to Scout Stardom, Baden Powell would be proud.

Pirate Moot

Dust off the eye patch, get yourself a parrot, and start slurring your words, Pirate moot is in town. South Mets RRC is bringing the sword, sea shanties, and mootinies, all you’ve got to do is make it onboard in time. Between the 5th-7th December at Bendeela Camping Ground. $30 presale, $35 at the Gate. Don’t forget your sea legs, you’ll need them.

Gangshow

Gangshow’s back. You thought it was over, but it never is. If you’re the kind of person who likes to sing and dance, or you’re not, Gangshow could be for you. Just think, next year your name could be up in lights.

WHS/Child Safe

Before our December RRC, we’ll be running the WHS, and Child Safe modules for those that have yet to do them. Same deal as above. Times have yet to be decided, but the location will be Girraween Scout Hall on Oramzi Road, Girraween NSW, Girraween(where we’ll subsequently be having RRC).

RRC + Region Rover Pool Party

It’s that time of the year; the End, and we’re almost there. That means a couple of things, christmas, new years, and the Region Rover Pool Party. But before that we’ve got to get through RRC. So here’s the lowdown. Before RRC we’re having an Intro to rovers course, for all the new people, then we’ll have a BBQ lunch, followed by RRC, where we’ll burn through everything, and will be voting for positions for next year. After all that boring stuff, we’ll hit the pool, for a great afternoon of fun and excitement. It’ll be a splash. Specific details will come out before the end of the week, so just hold your breath till then.

Wiggle Moot

Blue, Green, Yellow, or Purple? Which colour will you be? Will you get tasked with waking up Geoff? Are your potatoes hot enough? Are you ready for Wiggle Moot? Situated in the ACT (don’t worry, it’s landlocked by NSW), Wiggle Moot promises to transport you back to when Greg used to be a wiggle, and when you had the coolest Dorothy tail, and Captian featherswords hat. All that’s left is for you to pick which wiggle you’re going to go as.

Waratah

Wara-who? Waratah! This years Waratah brings with it a Doctor Who theme, and with it the need for Rovers to help run activities. The activities have all been organised, so all you have to do is show up on the day. If you would like to add some poetic licence, you are free to add to the base as you see fit.

BUD

Like a flower blossoming in the summer sun; BUD will once again will prove to be a spectacular show. The Venturers are organising a camp to showcase their talents to the prospective Scouts section, and have asked for our help on the weekend. Mexican Moot

Mexican Moot is this years Branch Moot, and it promises to be the best Branch Moot in recent memory. Ever been to Mexico? Well now’s your chance. Save 1000s of dollars travelling to Mexican Moot, where no effort has been spared in ensuring Mexico comes to you. With cultural experiences the likes of which you’ve never seen, and friendly locals to show you the way. This four day extravaganza over the October long weekend (3-6 October) will never be repeated. With prices so low you can’t believe it, at $55 for partially catered experience, and $80 for the fully catered experience, you better book now, before places fill up.

RRC

The reports are but a twinkle in our eyes, but don’t let that fool you, RRC will sneak up on you with the subtlety of a freight train. This time we’ve moved the meeting back due to availability, as Bundilla is in use at that time. We will endeavour to have just as much, if not more fun (if that’s even possible) none the less. Don’t miss it, i know i wont.

Harbour Cruise

I’m on a boat. At least I will come Harbour Cruise. This year’s Harbour Cruise is bound to an interesting one, with good versus evil pitted against one another, in a battle between heroes and villains the likes of which Rovers have yet to see. It doesn’t matter which side you’re on, as long as when that boat leaves the wharf, you’re on it.

Magical Mystery Tour

Get your road trip playlist ready, you’re going on tour. Magical Mystery Tour that is. This years theme is Mega Music Trip, and I’m sure you plan on doing nothing less than dressing the part. Best act quick, get a car full of people together, and get your outfit ready.

BRC Meeting

We are once again on the cusp of greatness. With the next in a series of BRC meetings nearing ever closer it is time to stand up and represent our region. This BRC meeting will feature such great discussions as what we had for lunch, our plans for that evening, and other rover specific topics. If previous BRC meetings are anything to go off, fun is not a strong enough adjective to describe the experience. Beginning at 2pm, the 13th September at State Office, it will prove once again what the BRC is all about.

Ratskin

It’s like Dragonskin, but it’s not. Now I’m confused. Might be worth checking out the Golden West Region’s annual Ratskin, to see what’s it’s all about. Word on the street is that it’s like Dragonskin, but backwards. Venturers run activities for Rover, and Leaders. If you’re interested in attending, Mark Fell is organising Great Western Sydney’s efforts. His email is .
