The Region Team
Who is the Region Team?
The Region Team, headed up by the Region Commissioner is a group of volunteers who are charged with supporting Scouting Activities across Greater Western Sydney Region! Our role ranges from making sure our groups are well supported and running inline with Scouting and community expectations through to supporting our leaders in running great programs! The most important part is that we are there to support you!
How do I access the Region Team?
You may be speaking to members of the team already without realising it! The first and most regular contact point is your District Section Leader or District Commissioner. A large part of their role is to act as the day-to-day interface between our leaders and members and the larger Scouting organisation. This is part of the reason why your district section meeting (Wandarah, Seeonee, Mindari, DVSC, RRC) is such an important part of how we operate.

How do I identify a Region Team Member
When in uniform, the Region team all wear a dark blue scarf. If in doubt, please check with the Region Commissioner, Deputy Region Commissioners or the Region Office.
I want to join the Region Team - How can I do this?
Have a think about what you want to do - is it an events or operations role? do you love adventurous activities? are you great with a particular skill? When you have done this, reach out to the Region Commissioner or the Commissioner in charge of the area you are interested in for a chat and we can see how you best fit in. While many of our roles allow dual appointments, some roles carry a heavy workload and any person filling them would need to commit to the role.
What can the Region Team do for me?
The roles and experiences of people in the Region team are diverse and extensive. There are people to help you run your adventurous activities, people to assist you with questions around member support, training or diversity and inclusion, people to assist with operational concerns and so much more. We can't run your group for you and we don't have a cupboard full of spare leaders, but we will do what ever we can to assist - just reach out.
But the Region Team is above me in the pecking order / sits in an ivory tower / is always too busy...
Absolutely not! The aims of our organisation and the benefits that our youth get are our first, foremost and most important goal. This means that we are here to support you! While we need to sometimes carry out tasks that may, on the surface appear contrary to this, we are all on the same team. If you have a concern or issues - please reach out! If we can't help, we will find someone who can. We also love to get out and meet leaders and would love an invite to come to your section night and participate.
