Waratah 2011: Operation Dragnet Results

Congratulations to 1st North Mt Druitt Venturer Scout Unit on winning the NSW Venturer Scout competition - Operation Dragnet 2011!

The team succeeded in avoiding dozens of seeker teams through the Vulcan State Forest over 36 hours to cross the finish line with all lives intact. This is a massive effort for the team who had to navigate over challenging terrain, often at night, in thick pine forest, and careful to avoid attracting unwanted attention.

A huge thank you to the scores of adult staff for their sleepless efforts during the event. Without your dedication and support this activity would never have been able to exist.

A special thank you as well to Steve Wallace for coordinating the entire activity. Operation Dragnet was a NSW Venturer Scout Event presented by GWS Region and has involved over 18 months of detailed preparations. Without Steve's hundreds of hours of organisation, this activity would not be possible.

Waratah returns in 2012 to the theme "Knights of Camelot" at Camp Coutts. More information and application forms will be available early in the new year.
