Region Venturer Camp February 2012

The February Region Venturer Scout Council will be conducted as a full weekend camp to be held at Bundilla on the weekend of 11-12 February 2012.

All Unit Council members and Venturer Scout Leaders and Assistant Venturer Scout Leaders are expected to attend.

The weekend will be used to cover a large number of training topics including Unit Management, new WorkCover procedures, Activity Notification, Section Administration, and Major Event Programming. The Region team will be coordinating District discussions as well as a separate Youth Forum and Adult Forum to address other issues that exist within the section, so please bring your questions along.

As well, we are providing the opportunity for as many youth members to gain their Bushwalking qualifications with sufficient time left to organise VSA bushwalks before Dragon Skin. (Thus having to schedule this camp so early in the year.) Please note that Venturers that are not on the Unit Council may choose to come for the whole camp or just the Bushwalking workshop. A copy of the session handouts is included below.

The 2012 Waratah Committee Election will also be held on the camp. Every Unit will have one vote per position, and all leaders, rovers and supporters are invited to nominate for roles as listed in the Information Handout. This will be the best opportunity for every Unit to have input to the direction of this event in 2012!

Finally, we are arranging representatives from local community services and the local church to attend the weekend as guest speakers. This will allow Venturers to complete parts 2 and 4 of their Venturer Award Ideals badge. Venturers may also like to contact Aaron with a preference to host the Scouts Own on Sunday morning to complete part 5 of this badge. This will allow as many Venturers as possible to complete another badge during the weekend.
